Montreal Brunch + Bagels + Sweets Directory

Brunch : Brunch is a very special meal for me. Whilst I have my complaints of modern and trendy brunch restaurants, girl brunch (a la my friend Chris) was one of my favourite events in the week. There is something so beautiful about having breakfast with your friends. Brunch is its own category of restaurant for me, thus, it should get its own list. We take it very seriously, and usually only go to the same place twice if we really liked it.

Allo Mon Coco Not my fave chain brunch spot... I prefer Ben and Florentine or L'ouefrier...
Bar Darling Honestly I do not have much to say. It was alright. I got the mushroom benedict I believe...The service was a bit slow, which is fine. The food was fine. The interior of Darling is really cute, the eggs were perfectly poached. However, neither I nor the people I went with have ever spoken of going again, which is interesting.
Bar Le Sparrow This is a spot I just keep going to. I have gone 3 times, which is very rare for a brunch place, and it has impressed my friend Isabel who adores brunch. We have tried the Cilbir or Turkish Eggs (pictured here), the Breakfast Bahn Mi, the Naan Breakfast Sandwich, the scone and the breakfast potatos. I usually prefer when the potatos come with the meal, but omg... everything was so good! I recommend highly !!
Ben and Florentine It is fine! The filter coffee kept coming which is good. I got a classic breakfast with sausage... It was good post hangover bekfast...
Butterblume It was fine... Very limited Menu, I think there were 3 thinks on the menu, and the 3 item menu has since changed since I was there, which is cool. I think this was similar to a cilbir... I remember liking it but not being blown away. We only went once, and preferred Bar le Sparrow.

Caribou Gormande I wonder if I would have liked this place if my palette was more refined... it seemed really interesting in terms of the food. I got the chicken and waffles, (I usually get an eggs benedict...). I think it was pretty alright! I'm not a huge waffle fan to begin with, and I think the salad on the side was super pointless. I wonder if dinner would be better...
Chez Jose I LOVE NATA, its like one of my favourite things ever. I got a classic omlette with Chorizo. It was a good omlette. The brick and mortar is quite small, very cute. I would consider going again, but i simply forgot about it.
Eggspectations I used to live close to this, so I went often ish. My dad liked it. I think its pretty good for what it is. I prefer a lot of other places, but of the chain brunch places, this one is alright!
Faberge This is another one I kept coming back to. It sort of became the go to girlbrunch spot... and I think its pretty good! Its the first place Isabel and i got brunch at and the last place Zachary and I got brunch at. I usually like the classic benedict, its always good. Much better than other places in the area (Larry's...), and it holds a special place in my heart for all the memories.
Janine Janine is the last place I went to brunch before leaving montrea, and i think the first place one of my best friends went to when she moved here. I got a classic breakfast with pulled ham and sunny side up eggs. If I'm not getting a benedict, I like sunny side up eggs at brunch. It was really yummy and the interior was awesome, and the glassware they used was super awesome!
La Binerie Super awesome! I had such a fun time at this place. A very good diner! Not my favourite diner in the city, but it is super good! I think I just got a classic breakfast and they also had tourtiere, which is one of my favourite things.
Larry's God.. how disapointing... I went twice and the second time was even more disapointing than the first... honestly, the vibes are weird, and there is a better brunch place around the corner (Faberge). The menu is strange, lots of individual items so you can build your own brunch, which is good in theory but I did not enjoy, so I just got the breakfast sammich, which was mid!!! So mid.
Le Vieux St Laurent MY FAVOURITE DINER IN THE CITY! I love this place! The eggs benedict is always perfect. The potatoes are perfect, the amount of filter coffee they give me is always awesome. One of the servers is absolutely beautiful. I love it. GO HERE!!
L'oeufrier Its fine! I went here right before covid... is that crazy? Anyways, its fine! I like the breakfast poutine! Its always yummy, it was my go to uber eats order for a bit because theres enough food for two meals!

Millmans supremely disapointing... I found it to be very average and mid, and maybe I should have gotten filter coffee instead of a latte, that might have made it better...
SHAY Talk about disapointing... Expensive... we didn't really like any of our dishes, but our server ROCKED. He was awesome. Isabel and I tried to go before and it was full so we went somewhere else and we defo dodged a bullet the first time and then did NOT learn our lesson. Super overrated.

Sunny's Dinette Very cute and also good! Except.. the second time I went, one of my poached eggs was over cooked and that was really really sad... otherwise it was very cute and I really liked it! We randomly found this place after SHAY was busy. It was much better than SHAY.

Ye Olde Orcharde Good solid pub brunch! We went for my friend Chris' birthday, it was his choice of place. We watched F1. I liked it but not enough to go again. I'd probably go to Le Vieux St Laurent instead!

Bagels and Sweets : honestly... I have such a sweet tooth! I love Ice cream so much. I love sweets. I also adore Montreal style bagels! I know how to make them myself, so I won't be starved for them which is awesome! However, i never tried Fairmount bagels..

Fabrique Love fabrique sometimes. I will say their jalapeno cream cheese did not taste very jalapeno-y, but I went with my dear friend gen (gendervieve) and she used to work there! Very convenient and Pro-Palestine I believe!
St Viateur The classic! I love that its cash only. THe everything bagel and onion bagel are both fantastic! I love St Viateur! It was a nice walk from my last apartment in montreal and my dear friend Isabel used to live right around the corner. Good memories. I miss the bagels

Bernie Beigne I am not a huge donut fan, but this was good! Super duper sweet... massive donuts. It tends to get busy I have heard, though I have never waited that long. I think I may prefer THe Donut Mill though.. but again I am not a huge donut fan.

Chocolats Favoris Not as mid as La Diperie, since they had a raspberry soft serve instead of just vanilla which was awesome, but idk I just do not like soft serve enough
Iconoglace This is the best soft serve I have ever had in my entire life. The strawberry was tangy and sweet and so delicious. The just vanilla base was fine, but omg. I love, and I prefer a traditional ice cream over soft serve most of the time. I went with my friend gen on a week day at like 3 pm and it was still busy, so keep that in mind...

La Diperie mid. idk. I don't like softserve enough to like this place. its fine. idk
Les Anges Gourmets I LOVE NATA. SO MUCH. thats all
Ocha I LOVE MOCHI DONUTS. THe bubble tea is like fine, but this is maybe the only mochi donut place in montreal and these are fantastic. I am NOT a huge donut fan but these are absolutely amazing... I think fondly of them every day.
Ripples I love ripples! Its just good ice cream. Nothing fancy. Huge portions. I got their sorbet and their ice cream, both were awesome... (Can I pwease get stwawbewwy in a squinkle cone?? I am four years old (joke..)) THey also have a punch card, I gave mine to gen
Tsujiri LOVE. THeir just matcha ice cream and also frap are awesome. Don't pay extra for milk, you do not really need it. I went the day after I broke up with my exgf. I think the food looks good too but I have never tried...
